As an addition to our existing ADA compliant lock offerings, we have added the User Key feature to our Built-in Combination Locker Lock Models 1930/1931, 1954/1955 and 1970/1971. In doing so, Zephyr Lock has continued to develop ADA compliance while providing affordable solutions to the current high cost of meeting the 5% requirement of ADA compliant lockers in schools.
All of our ADA locks have been engineered to comply with the Government’s ADA standards in section 4.27.4 of the ADA’s Accessibility Guidelines for Building and Facilities. Our complete line of built-in combination locks have been designed to include the capability of operating with a large flat paddle key design that enables the user to open the lock without pinching, or twisting of the wrist and requires less than 5 lbs. of force for operation.
This new feature allows the school/facility to issue an ADA user key with large paddle head design that would open only the user’s lock. Administrators would still have access to the lockers by use of the Control Key. Lastly the locks always be accessed through the use of the combination. This allows for the school or facility to maximize their locker configuration while not having to identify lockers as ADA use only.
